The design based research group Bauhütte conducts design based research in urban design and architecture. In its view any innovation in architecture is based on an evaluation of the existing, situated in and based on the context of actuality. The aim is to pursue architectural- and historical continuity, based on a scientific, and in the tradition of the profession rooted, architectural innovation. Innovation in architecture is never to be introduced "without conditions" but measures itself to the degree to which it is able to create new and meaningful relations with the existing. Therefore, the perspective is always focused on the long term.
