Tilburg University has the intention to realise a renewal of its building stock in the coming years. The first project encompasses the new development of an Education- and Self-Study Centre (ESC) that will be taken into use in 2017. After the realisation of the ESC the new development of a restaurant building with study associations is envisioned together with the development of a multi-tenant business building for startup companies (a so-called ‘incubator’). Alongside the architectural renewal of the building stock of Tilburg University the Masterplan also envisions an enhancement of the quality of the landscaping on campus scale.
The aim of the Masterplan is bilateral: to achieve a qualitative intervention of all envisioned building schemes north of the existing ‘esplanade’ and to provide Tilburg University with a long-term vision on the development of the campus into a coherent whole. To achieve this goal the Masterplan serves as an underlayer for future zoning plan alterations: the necessary alterations to realise the ESC will be supported by the rules and guidelines as formulated in the Masterplan.
